Tandem t:slim X2 Cartridge
Insulin delivery is easy with the Tandem t:slim X2 cartridge. These cartridges are specifically designed for use with the Tandem t:slim X2 insulin pump. Each disposable insulin pump cartridge holds 3mL of rapid-acting insulin. This equals about 300 units or 2-3 days worth of insulin. Simply fill the cartridge with your rapid-acting insulin of choice, slide the cartridge into your pump, and follow the instructions on your pump’s screen to get started. The Tandem t:slim X2 cartridge is compatible with U-100 Humalog and U-100 NovoLog. It is not approved for use with other types of insulin.
This insulin pump cartridge has a pouch inside of the cartridge that holds the insulin. Tandem’s Micro-Delivery Technology™ ensures you never waste insulin. It draws small amounts of insulin from the pouch into a micro-delivery chamber for more accurate delivery.

When filling your Tandem t:slim X2 cartridge, make sure the pump is not attached to your body. With clean hands, remove the cap from the insulin pump cartridge. Sterilize the insulin vial and insert the syringe. Slowly inject insulin into the cartridge, carefully avoiding air bubbles. Next, prime the cartridge. Tap the cartridge gently and slowly push the plunger to get rid of any bubbles. Next, attach the infusion set to the cartridge. Prime the infusion set to ensure there is no air in the tubing. Turn off the insulin pump and insert the cartridge using the t:lock connector. Secure the cartridge into a locked position and turn on your insulin pump. Follow the instructions on the screen. Can you add insulin to Tandem cartridge still in use?
No, you cannot add insulin to the Tandem cartridge while it is in use. Once a cartridge has been used, you must replace it with a new insulin pump cartridge before adding more insulin.
Can you add insulin to t:slim cartridge without priming?
No, you should not add insulin to a t:slim cartridge without priming. Priming is an important step to avoid air bubbles from entering your circulatory system.
Can you refill a Tandem cartridge?
No, you should not refill a Tandem cartridge as they are disposable and intended for single-use only. Use only the syringe and needle tip that came with your cartridges.
Do I need a prescription for Tandem t:slim X2 cartridges?
Yes, in order to use the Tandem t:slim X2 and its accessories, including cartridges, you need a prescription from your provider.
Does Medicare cover insulin pump cartridges?
