Tandem® t:slim Insulin Pump
Insulin injections can be a pain for people with diabetes, literally and figuratively. Instead of putting up with this source of annoyance, use the t:slim X2 to make diabetes easier to manage than ever before. This system holds up to 300 units of insulin, and users can schedule and adjust their insulin dosage with its easy-to-understand interface. With the t:slim X2, people with diabetes can get the insulin doses they need without painful, inconvenient injections. They can control the pump with an integrated touchscreen. For added functionality, diabetes patients can use their t:slim X2 in conjunction with the Dexcom G6.†
The t:slim X2 is a technologically advanced insulin pump designed to simplify the process of insulin delivery for people with diabetes. You’ll control your t:slim X2 from its built-in color touchscreen, which is easy to read and intuitive to use. The pump also offers Bluetooth connectivity features, which allow it to share information with other electronic devices.
In addition to the t:slim X2’s own capabilities, people with diabetes can use this insulin pump along with the Dexcom G6 CGM system.† When doing so, they can choose between two powerful predictive technologies. These are known as Control-IQ (which can predict glucose levels half an hour in the future and react accordingly) and Basal-IQ (which can pause insulin delivery when the system expects a user’s glucose level to drop below 80 mg/dL).
Important safety information related to the t:slim X2, Control-IQ and Basal-IQ technology, and the t:connect app appears near the bottom of Tandem Diabetes Care’s official web page for the t:slim X2.
How Can I Deal With A Leaky/Damaged t:slim X2 Cartridge?
If you observe insulin leaking from a cartridge’s base or pigtail, the cartridge will need to be disposed of and replaced. During this process, be sure to fill the new cartridge while it is off the pump. On the other hand, insulin around the cartridge’s fill port may have been left over from the filling process; to check this, wipe the insulin away with a tissue and look for any additional leakage.
Does The t:slim X2 Come With A Warranty?
Tandem offers a four-year warranty covering pump defects that arise during normal use. You can find more information on this warranty here.
Is My t:slim X2 Waterproof?
The t:slim X2 is watertight, and has been tested to a depth of three feet for up to half an hour. However, this product is not waterproof. Tandem has encouraged users not to wear their pumps while showering or swimming, as well.
Can I Sleep While Wearing The t:slim X2?
This device can deliver glucose while you sleep. Depending on your preferences, you can set up a sleep schedule or activate the pump’s sleep mode manually.
What Insulin Is The t:slim X2 Compatible With?
Currently, the t:slim X2 has only received approval for use with Humalog (Eli Lilly Insulin Lispro) U-100 insulin and NovoLog/NovoRapid (Novo Nordisk Insulin Aspart) U-100 insulin.
How Can I Check If Control-IQ Has Delivered An Automatic Correction Bolus?
To see how Control-IQ is adjusting your insulin delivery, simply check your pump’s status screen. You can also review a list of your boluses by referring to the pump’s bolus history report.
How Long Can Basal-IQ Suspend Insulin?
This technology can pause insulin delivery for a minimum of five minutes. In a two-and-a-half hour window, it can suspend insulin for up to two hours as needed.
†Dexcom CGM sold separately. Transmitter can only be paired with one medical device (either a Dexcom receiver or t:slim X2 insulin pump) and one consumer device (phone or tablet) at the same time.
‡Tested to 3 feet for 30 minutes (IPX7).
§Users must still bolus for meals and actively manage their diabetes. If glucose values are predicted to be above 180 mg/dL, Control-IQ technology calculates a correction bolus using the Personal Profile settings and a target of 110 mg/dL and delivers 60% of that value. An Automatic Correction Bolus will not occur within 60 minutes of a bolus that has been delivered or cancelled
