Tandem Mobi is a new insulin pump from Tandem Diabetes Care. While it is smaller than Tandem’s t:slim X2, both pumps deliver insulin to individuals living with diabetes with the help of Control-IQ technology.

In some ways, Tandem Mobi is similar to the t:slim X2—both of these devices provide insulin to people with diabetes, and they both use Tandem’s Control-IQ technology to accomplish this goal. This technology can make diabetes management considerably easier; on average, Control-IQ technology users spent 74 percent of their time in range after 12 months**.

However, Tandem’s newest insulin pump also brings some unique features to the table, including a design that’s small enough to be used almost anywhere*. This product is also a milestone for automated delivery systems as a whole, as it is the first device in this category that can be controlled entirely by a mobile app†.

If you want the convenience of an insulin pump in an unobtrusive form factor, Tandem Mobi is right for you. When you use this insulin pump, you can put it in your jeans’ coin pocket, wear it on your body in an adhesive sleeve, or clip it to your clothing.

Tandem Mobi is also an excellent choice for Dexcom G6 CGM System users looking to take their diabetes management strategy to the next level. While it is not yet compatible with the Dexcom G7 CGM System, this integration is expected to arrive later this spring||.

If you plan on using Tandem Mobi, review Tandem’s important safety information for this product first.

Is Tandem Mobi Available?

Tandem Diabetes Care officially announced the start of orders and shipments of Tandem Mobi on Feb. 13, 2024.

What Is The Difference Between t:slim X2 and Tandem Mobi?

Tandem Mobi and its predecessor are both insulin pumps that offer Control-IQ technology. However, the newer product is smaller than the t:slim X2, and it is the only automated insulin delivery system that can be controlled entirely with a mobile app†.

Does Tandem Mobi Work With Dexcom?

As of April 2024, Tandem Mobi is compatible with the Dexcom G6 CGM System. Dexcom G7 CGM System integration has not yet launched but is expected to arrive in the near future||.

How Does The Tandem Mobi Work?

Tandem Mobi relies on Control-IQ technology to deliver insulin. This technology uses a person’s CGM readings to predict where their glucose levels will be 30 minutes in the future and adjusts insulin delivery in response. Control-IQ technology is approved for the management of Type 1 diabetes mellitus in persons six years of age and greater.

How Often Should I Change My Tandem Mobi?

According to Tandem Diabetes Care, Tandem Mobi users should change their infusion sets every 48 to 72 hours.

*Do not wear or place your pump more than 12 inches (30.5 cm) above your infusion site. Doing so may result in over delivery of insulin.

†Tandem’s mobile apps require a compatible smartphone model and operating system (sold separately). Only available to pump users who reside in the U.S.

‡For qualified persons with applicable in-network insurance and subject to coverage requirements. Deductibles, co-pays, and other conditions apply. Speak to an ADS representative and your insurance company to confirm your coverage and costs.

¶CGM sold separately.

  • If glucose values are predicted to be above 180 mg/dL, Control-IQ technology calculates a correction bolus using the Personal Profile settings and a target of 110 mg/dL and delivers 60% of that value.

||Tandem Mobi integration with Dexcom G7 is under development. The safety and effectiveness of Dexcom G7 with Tandem Mobi has not yet been established. Tandem Mobi is intended for use with Dexcom G6 CGM.
